Here’s the deal: we take pride in doing great work for our community — clean, safe, game-ready parks that people notice. That only happens because we have dependable people on our team who show up, work hard, and care about the details.

At The Grounds Guys, we’re more than just “the lawn guys.” We’re a professional team that believes in doing the job right, every time — and we back it with our Done Right Promise.

We’re looking for someone who’s ready to own a key seasonal role: keeping up to a dozen ball diamonds in top condition through the playing season. This is largely independent work, and reliability is everything.

  • You’re detail-oriented and enjoy leaving a field smooth, level, weed-free, and game-ready.
  • You’re comfortable being outdoors and staying productive in changing weather.

Your responsibilities as a Ball Field Maintenance Technician

  • Maintain shale/infield areas at up to a dozen ball fields using a 3-wheel cart and drag mat
  • Rake, level, and finish shale/infield surfaces to a consistent standard
  • Hand weed and support weed control:

  • Coordinate with a weed treatment team to keep areas weed-free
  • Line trim fence lines and clean up edges/surrounding areas
  • Keep ball fields and immediate surroundings clean and litter-free
  • Coordinate with park maintenance teams and assist with other park tasks as needed

How we measure success

  • Attendance & reliability: Daily maintenance depends on it
  • Quality & consistency: Fields are smooth, level, and present well every day
  • Weed control: Shale/infields stay clean and weed-free
  • Route completion: All assigned fields completed within expected time
  • Communication: Issues flagged early (damage, safety hazards, unusual conditions)
  • Team support: Works well with other crews when needed

Job requirements

  • Experience in parks, landscaping, sports fields, or grounds maintenance (preferred)
  • Comfortable using hand tools and equipment (rakes, line trimmers, field grooming tools)
  • Ability to work outdoors and do physical work (raking/dragging/lifting)
  • Strong attention to detail and pride in workmanship
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation (preferred)
  • Ability to work safely and follow procedures (PPE, safe handling, site awareness)

Nice to have (not required):

  • Ball diamond / sports field grooming experience
  • Weed ID knowledge or pesticide applicator experience/certification (or willingness to train)

Pay

$24–$26/hour (CAD) depending on experience.
